Chintalwar gang vandalise restaurant, demand ransom at gun-point in Kachipura

Nagpur: Notorious goon Sumit Chintalwar and his gang resorted to vandalism at Farmhouse Kitchen Restaurant in Kachipura and demanded ransom of Rs 50,000 from the restaurant manager at gun-point.

Bajaj Nagar police have registered an offence against Chintalwar and his gang members. According to police, on July 27, at 1.30 am, Sumit and his associates arrived at the restaurant in two cars and approached the counter. Sumit insisted on being served despite the restaurant being closed. When the manager, Sunil Pandey, informed him of the closure, the situation took an ugly turn. Sumit reportedly interacted with the owner of the restaurant but the owner refused to serve due to late hours. Sumit then got angered and created a scene at the restaurant. He also threatened Pandey with a pistol and demanded a ransom of Rs 50,000 per month.

Sumit and his accomplices also went on a spree of destruction, causing considerable damage to the property. In a response, Pandey alerted the police. However, before the police could arrive at the scene, Sumit and his associates managed to escape. The Farmhouse kitchen restaurant was recently raided by the Crime Branch for serving liquor to the customers which followed by registration of offence against manager and others.

On the basis of a complaint filed by Pandey, the Bajaj Nagar police have registered a case under Section 386, 323, 506and 34 of IPC, read with Section 3/25 of Arms Act.
