A resident of MHADA Colony, Sunil (22) told investigators that the woman had borrowed Rs 70,000 from him for fitting tiles at her newly constructed house. However, she was demanding more money from him. As she was not returning the money to him, a quarrel broke out between them. He allegedly hatched a plan to eliminate her. He called her at his house and strangled her to death.

Later, with the assistance of his friend Aryan Sitaram Mahato (19), a native of district Banda, Uttar Pradesh, and one minor boy, he chopped her body and stuffed it in a sack. Sunil and Aryan then took the chopped body and threw it in the Kanhan River from the bridge near Khaperkheda to destroy evidence.

Police have rounded up three persons, including a minor brother of the murder mastermind.

The body was found on the river bank where it was likely mauled by stray dogs and other animals. Police could recover some parts of the torso, skull and bones of the limbs. The woman’s family identified her body parts on the basis of the black saree found at the spot, said police. The body parts have been sent for forensic analysis.

Police said the main accused had befriended the woman who worked at a tiles showroom at Jaripatka. The main accused and his aide used to work as cleaners and sweepers at the outlet. The victim and her paramour visited several places like Ramtek and Khindsi to spend some intimate moments. The paramour also learnt to have taken her to his house at MHADA Colony too, said reports.

The paramour had become possessive and would take objections on seeing the victim getting friendly with others. His behaviour irked the woman and a dispute started when she demanded further monetary assistance, said sources.

Police said the paramour hatched a plan and summoned the woman to his residence where the main accused and his aide first strangled her with a rope and later tried to slit her throat. The younger brother of the main accused cleaned and washed the blood stains. Police said the minor would be produced before the child welfare committee on Thursday.

Police said the three persons first tied the body in a sitting posture, then put it in a sack which was wrapped with two quilts. The paramour and his aide carried the body on a bike like they were transporting some material. The body was thrown into the river from the Parseoni Bridge.

Initially, a missing case was registered at Jaripatka police station. On the basis of the cell phone details and contact records, cops first zeroed in on a friend of the deceased who shared the paramour’s name. The paramour spilled the beans during interrogation, said police.
