Nagpur News: The Mayor Anil Sole, Deputy Mayor Jaitunnabi Asfaq Ansari, NMC Commissioner Shyam Wardhane and other dignitaries paid their floral tributes to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary today (January 30). All the personalities garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Variety Square on behalf of Nagpur Municipal Corporation.
Similarly, the statues of Mahatma Gandhi in Satranjipura, Chitar Oli, Sadar Square, Ganjipeth and New Shukrawari were garlanded by the Deputy Mayor Jaitunabbi Ansari and paid tributes the Father of the Nation on behalf of Nagpur City. The Deputy Mayor also saluted the martyrs of freedom struggle by laying the wreaths at Hutatma Smarak (Martyrs’ Memorial) on Subhash Road Children’s Park.
Others who paid their tributes at Variety Square include Dharampeth Zone Chairperson Varsha Thakre, Corporators Dr Prashant Chopda, Sujata Kombade, Yashashri Nandanwar, former Corporators Baba Shelke, Ambadas Gondane and others.

The Mayor Anil Sole and Deputy Mayor Jaitunnabi Ansari remembered Mahatma Gandhi by garlanding the oil painted portrait in the Mayor’s Chamber in the Headquarters of NMC in Civil Lines. A two-minute silence was observed by those present on the occasion. Others who paid their tributes include Additional Municipal Commissioner Hemant Pawar, NMC Secretary Harish Dubey, former Corporator Prof Raju Hadap, South-West Division BJP President Kishore Wankhede, Adavadkar, Shirkhedkar and others.
