Nagpur: Indian Air Force celebrated the 85th Anniversary on 08 October 2017 by rededicating itself to the service of the nation. Towards these celebrations, Headquarters Maintenance Command at Vayusena Nagar, Nagpur is organising several events to commemorate the role of IAF in bringing about national integrity, cohesion and security in a befitting manner.
This year’s celebration has been flagged off with a cleanliness drive (Swachh Bharat Abhiyan) at Vayusena Nagar, Nagpur on 02 Oct 2017 (Gandhi Jayanti). The drive was conducted in consonance with the national campaign of the Government of India on ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ to clean the streets, roads and other infrastructure within the camp area and to highlight the Indian Air Force’s social responsibility towards citizens of country in general and Nagpur in particular. Since the official launch of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ in the year 2014. Headquarters Maintenance Command had conducted such cleanliness drives at Futala lake in last two years.
Air Marshal Hemant Sharma Ati Vishisht Seva Medal Vishisht Seva Medal, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command and other senior officers of Headquarters Maintenance participated in the abhiyan along with all air warriors. Non Combatants (Enrolled), Defence Civilians and DSC personnel working at Vayusena Nagar. Air warriors participated whole heartedly in this year’s event. Also students from Air Force School Vayusena took part in this cleanliness drive champaign. Banners and slogans were put up to emphasize cleanliness of surroundings for awareness particularly amongst youth.
