Nagpur: The minority community students who want go in for their higher studies and want Maulana Azad Narional Fellowship need to compulsorily pass the Nationality Eligibility Test (NET). The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recently made some changes in the guidelines. According to UGC now it will depend on NET marks which student will get Fellowship. As per the revised guidelines the minority community students will be selected for fellowship on the basis of marks of NET examination conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). The revised rules will be applicable for the students who apply for the Fellowship.
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research every year organise separate NET examinations. Under this
Junior Research Fellowship candidates’ capability was tested. The NET examination conducted by CBSE for UGC is for selecting candidates for teaching position in University and colleges. Till last year it was not necessary for the minority community to clear CBSE’s NET or CSRI exams. The fellowship was granted by Central Minority Ministry but now for fellowship it is necessary to pass NET.
