Nagpur: The Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, cornered by the NCP MLC Prakash Gajbjiye over construction of a pillar of Nagpur Metro near Ambazari Lake without NOC from Dam Safety Organisation, ordered the Water Resources Department to issue the necessary No Objection Certificate within seven days.

The NCP MLC had raised the issue in Legislative Council the other day. He had stated that that the pillars of reach-3 of Nagpur Metro, being constructed just near the Ambazari Lake, may prove to be a threat for its existence in future. He had also claimed that for the construction, no NOC has been received from Dam Safety Organisation which says that no construction can be done within 200 metres of a reservoir.

The Chief Minister was on a visit to Nagpur on Sunday and had met Nagpur Metro (Maha Metro) Managing Director Brujesh Dixit. Fadnavis apprised Dixit about the issue and assured him of providing the NOC soon.

The Public Relations Officer of Nagpur Metro Anil Kokate, making the stand clear on the issue said that the Dam Safety Organisation had given its clearance for construction works near Ambazari Lake. Only the process to obtain No Objection Certificate had remained to be done. The construction works of Nagpur Metro near the lake are being done in accordance with the specifications of the Dam Safety Organisation and only after clearance from Nagpur Municipal Corporation. The NMC had requested the Water Resources Department to ease the terms and conditions as well as permit the construction works.

With the intervention of Chief Minister Fadnavis, the NOC is likely to be provided to Nagpur Metro within seven days. In the ongoing Nagpur Metro project, pillars of reach-3 are being constructed near Ambazari Lake shore. Nine pillars are already have been constructed. Further work has come to a standstill as the land of the nearby Crazy Castle Amusement Park has not been transferred to Nagpur Metro by Nagpur Improvement Trust. The Chief Minister had assured the House that a meeting with NIT will be convened shortly and the land will be handed over to Nagpur Metro.
