The Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has assured regularization of 3115 English medium schools in the State including 1300 schools in Vidarbha. The Founders’ Association of English Medium Schools had met Chavan in this connection. The Association charged the State and District-level Inspection Committee with backtracking on their assurance that these schools would be regularized but in fact derecognized them.
The Nagpur Division member of the Association Krishna Yerawar said that 3115 English medium schools submitted applications in accordance with the May 28, 2010 Maharashtra Government Resolution. The schools were inspected by the District and State-level Committees. The schools were forced to wait for recognition for two and half years. Finally, the schools were derecognized and applications were invited for new schools. The Association’s State Secretary Dr Anant Biradar and President Sudarshana Trigunait submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister urging him to regularize the schools. The Chief Minister assured to regularize the 3115 English medium schools in the State.
The fate of 35,000 teachers and 7 lakh students in the 3115 English medium schools in State is hanging in balance out of which 10,000-15,000 teachers and about 3 lakh students belong to Vidarbha.
