Nagpur: A mega event to mark Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana will be held in Nagpur on Saturday, August 31. In the event, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, and Women and Child Welfare Minister Aditi Tatkare will launch the Phase-2 of the Ladki Bahin Yojana. One of the key highlights of the event is the direct disbursement of benefits to the accounts of 50 lakh eligible beneficiaries.

The celebrations at Reshimbagh Ground will bring together over 50,000 women from various parts of the district, including both rural and urban areas. Some 868 buses will ferry the women to the event venue at Reshimbagh.

In preparation for the event, District Collector Vipin Itankar and Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari are actively involved in arrangements. A series of review meetings have been held to ensure that all aspects of the event are well-organised. During one of the recent meetings, Bidari provided detailed guidance to various government departments regarding their responsibilities. This includes ensuring proper security measures at the main event venue, adequate seating arrangements for women beneficiaries, media arrangements, cleanliness, water supply, and transportation logistics.

Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari, Nagpur Municipal Commissioner; Saumya Sharma, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer, along with other department officials were present in the meeting.

The scheme is being implemented in the State with the aim of improving women’s health, nutrition and economic independence. Women are expressing that self-sufficiency can be met from the money received from the benefits of this scheme.

The scale of the event has necessitated meticulous planning and coordination among multiple government agencies to ensure its smooth execution. The traffic advisory is a key component of these preparations, aimed at minimising the impact on daily commuters while accommodating the large number of attendees expected at the event.
