Nagpur: State Advocate General Shrihari Aney’s remarks on the issue of statehood to Vidarbha and the following clarification of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the Legislative Council did not go down well with the Opposition which continued to remain aggressive over the issue.

Shiv Sena, despite being part of the state goverment upped its ante against Fadnavis who made unsuccessful attempt to pacify agitating members in the council. Legislative Council member Neelam Gore who raised the issue in the House registered her dissent over the issue. Gore turned down Fadnavis’ resolution stating that CM had only clarified his stand on the issue. No person on this stature and rank has ever issued such a statement, she said commenting on Aney.

Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray remained stuck to their demand of Aney’s resignation. He said his party would continue to agitate both in and outside the House till the AG put in his papers.
