Nagpur: The Special Branch of Nagpur Police Commissionerate, with a aim to ensure that both the festivals i.e. Eid al-Adha aka Bakr-Eid and Ganesh Utsav passes off peacefully, had organized a special programme where the Leaders of both the Muslim and the Hindu community come together and sit to discuss ways and means of observing the festivals without hurting the sentiments of the other religion at Rajwada Palace Hotel on September 3, 2016.
This peace meeting was Chaired by Commissioner of Police Dr K Venketesham. All the senior police officials including Joint Commissioner of Police Santosh Rastogi, Additional Commissioner of Police Dr Suhas Warke, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) Ishu Sindu, Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhinash Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police Raj Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police Shridhar, Deputy Commissioner of Police Kalasagar, Deputy Commissioner of Police Deepali Masirkar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Patil were present for the peace meeting. All Assistant Commissioners of Police, all Police Inspectors (In-Charge of various police stations) were also present on the occasion.
MLA Krishna Khopde and MLA Vikas Kumbhare too were present on the dais to lend a support to the noble endeavour of ensuring peace during festivities.
In-Charge of Sonegaon Police Station Police Inspector Ashok Bagul compered the entire programme and efficiently managed the question and answer time.
The organizers of various Sarvajanik Ganeshotsava Mandals aired some of the problems which included the one-window system and the hike in the deposit amount. Many organizers claimed that they do not get the deposit amount back.
Their also raised the issue and problems that they face because of PWD, SNDL, MSEDCL, NIT, NMC, Telephones, Forest Department etc. Commissioner of Police Dr K Venketesham assured to look into the matter.
Most of the organizers of various Sarvajanik Ganeshotsava Mandals unanimously agreed that they are happy with the arrangements of security, traffic and other arrangements made by the Nagpur Police Department. The Ganesha Mandals on their part have decided to cooperate with police to ensure a peaceful festival.
The Nagpur Police Department has assured all help and cooperation pertaining to events such as installation of idols, route for taking the idols for their immersion and the immersion of idols.
The main objective of this move was to celebrate the festival peacefully without any untoward incident. During the recent peace committee meeting for the festival, some people’s representatives and leaders of organizations agreed to ensure peace at all costs.
