Conference on “Climate Change and its effects on women” in Nagpur on Feb 15, 16

Nagpur: A conference on the topic “Climate Change and its effects on women” is being organised by Prakriti Sanstha at Lonara in Nagpur district on February 15 and 16. Rural women from Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh will participate in the conference. This is the 22nd meeting of the organization. On February 15, Jalpurush Rajendra Singh will inaugurate the conference.

During the opening session, three women sarpanches will be honoured with “Vasudha Smriti Award” in memory of Vasudha Dhagamwar, the late President of Prakriti Sanstha. Deputy Development Commissioner Kamalkishore Futane will also be present.

In the following sessions Jaideep Hardikar of “Pari” will elaborate regarding the stories he captured on climate change. Sunita Bagal, a member of Prakriti Sanstha, will also speak about climate change and its effects on women’s health.

In the afternoon session, Manish Rajankar and Kaustubh Pandharipande of “Feed” organization and Bijotsav Committee’s Prachi Mahurkar will throw light on “What exactly is climate change? And how can it be understood?”

On the second day of the conference, a session on women farmers who were working to tackle climate change and the experiments will be arranged. This session will be presided over by Niranjana of Consciousness Development Institute, Wardha.

In the concluding session, Avantika Lekurwale, Chairperson, Women and Child Development Committee, Nagpur, Zilla Parishad, will preside. Information on bulk grains, seeds as well as self-sufficiency, agriculture, climate change will be presented.
