The Department of commerce of Dr. Ambedkar College, Deeksha Bhoomi, Nagpur has organized a National Level conference sponsored by University Grants Commission, on January 25. The conference titled ‘Social commerce – emerging trends and issues’ will have the participation of universities & teachers from affiliated colleges, junior colleges, industrialists in addition to the research & post graduate students. The conference is organized by the Department of commerce at Ambedkar College.
Addressing the press conference, Principal Malti Reddy, said ‘Social commerce’ is a subset of electronic commerce that involves use of social media, online media that supports social interaction, and user contributions to assist in the online buying and selling of products and services. Briefly, social commerce is the use of social networks in the context of e-commerce transactions. She added that today the area of social commerce has been expanded to include the range of social media tools and content used in the context of e-commerce.
Over 250 delegates from different colleges all over India will participate in the conference. There will be two sessions during the day. In the first session Shailendra Jaiswal, senior professor, National Academy of Indian Railways, will speak on ‘Financial
inclusion- Role of information Technology ’ .
In the second session, Dr. Pravin Kuhikar, Deputy Manager, Retail Sales BPCL, will speak on ‘Facebook commerce’, informed Vice Principal A.P. Joshi. Shireesh Vakil, CEO, Bizsense Solutions will be the chief guest at the conference. Dr. Malti Reddy (Principal) is the chairperson, Dr.V.M. Chopde Vice Principal (Commerce Dept) organizing secretary of the conference.
