Nagpur: The Nagpur Unit of Congress held a protest march against the action by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against its leader Sonia Gandhi. All the office-bearers and workers of City and District Congress led by Vikas Thakre and Rajendra Mulak respectively held agitation in front of CGO Complex near Doordarshan Kendra on Thursday.
The Congress workers, office-bearers including Thakre, Mulak, Sunil Kedar, ex-Minister; Adv Abhijit Wanjari, MLC; Rashmi Barve, President of Zilla Parishad; Vishal Muttemwar, President of Social Media Cell of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee; Umakant Agnihotri, Prashant Dhawad, Atul Kotecha and others gathered near the office of Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI). They raised slogans against the Central Government.
“Gandhi family is being harassed through the ED as the Congress party, Sonia ji, Rahul ji are constantly questioning the Central Government over inflation, unemployment, falling economy,” pointed out Mulak.
“There is a huge outcry among the people against the Central Government. People are fed up with the Modi Government. The Central Government is only working to harass the opposition. The Modi Government is trying to scare Congress through central agencies to hide its own failure and divert public attention but Congress is not scared of it,” said the Congress leaders.
The demonstration by the Congress workers went on for one hour. The workers became aggressive and started pushing the police force while raising slogans against the Modi Government. Finally, hundreds of activists who protested along with Thakre, Mulak were detained by the police and later released.
