Nagpur: The construction work of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Mihan, Nagpur has been started by Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation Limited (HSCC) from Wednesday. Union health & family welfare ministry has already transferred the 150 acres of land at Mihan to AIIMS.
After the completion of the compound wall, the construction of the main building will begin. Looking at the pace of the work here, it is expected that the construction work will be completed on time.
The AIIMS land was proposed at sector-20 outside the Mihan-SEZ spread over 150 acre with 1.5 FSI. As per the government’s decision on March 11,2016, the Directorate of Medical Education & Research (DMER), the land was transferred to Union health & family welfare ministry at a lease of 1 for 99 years.
Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation Limited (HSCC) on behalf of ministry of health & family welfare does construction work of AIIMS across the country. Soon after the land was transferred, HSCC started the construction of the compound wall from March 30. The State government will have the responsibility to provide electricity, water and 4 lane road. The nodal officer of AIIMS Dr Ravi Chavhan informed that these works are in the final stage of completion. Meanwhile, other than Nagpur AIIMS the construction of compound wall has also started at AIIMS-West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh.
Meanwhile Nodal officer of AIIMS Dr Ravi Chavhan informed that the design of the of the AIIMS are already decided. However, changes are made to include local touch in the design. Concerning this a meeting will be held between the chief architect and the director of ministry of health and family welfare. Following which the construction of the main building will begin. construction work of All India Institute of Medical Sciences has begun at Mihan, in presence of officials on Wednesday.
