NAGPUR: A large of number of agitating families of policemen on Tuesday staged a strong protest against the State government by tying black ribbons to their mouths at Samvidhan Square in Nagpur.
The city is currently witnessing strong police bandobast due to the ongoing monsoon session of the State Assembly. However, it’s an irony that the policemen, who provide round the clock security cover to ministers and public representatives, mostly remain neglected by the governments.
Fed up of the government lethargy, the policemen’s families, under the banner of Rashtra Nirmaan Sanghtan and Police Boys Association, on Tuesday staged a protest and demanded from the government that the cops be given only eight-hour duty, their salaries be hiked along with implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission, and 15% reservation be given to the policemen’s kin in government jobs.
