Nagpur: City Crime branch sleuths raided cricket betting dens in Hingna and Lakadganj on Wednesday and arrested six accused.

According to information, police received confidential information about a den at flat-304 at Pioneer Woods Colony in Hingna. Police then planned an operation and raided the flat on Wednesday night. Cops found accused 40 year-old Nilesh Tapase, from New Mhalgi Nagar and Sachin Dilip Bhute, 27, from Somwari Quarters, accepting bets on Sri Lanka Vs Australia match at the spot. The accused revealed that they were running the betting operation with the help of Wardhaman Nagar residents Chintu Chug and Dipen Bheda. Police informed that the arrested accused have been wanted cricket bookies since long and have long records with city police.

Sources informed that Nilesh and Sachin had been operating from the said flat since last four months. Police recovered 8 mobiles, a laptop and a TV set, all worth 88,000, in Wednesday’s operation.

Similarly, a team of API Chaugule raided the residence of Dilip Hariram Meghani at Garoba Maidan, Harihar Nagar and arrested Meghani and his accomplice Tarachand Nandanwar, 33, from Kundanlal Gupta Nagar, accepting bets on Rajdhani satta.
