Nagpur: The Anti Narcotics Cell of Nagpur Police seized approximately 2 kilograms of Mephedrone (MD) worth Rs 1.91 crore and arrested two peddlers during the night of Thursday and Friday in a significant operation against illegal drugs. This may be the largest quantity of MD ever seized in the history of Nagpur Police.
The accused have been identified as Kunal Govind Gabhane (18), a resident of Zenda Chowk, and Gaurav Sanjay Kaleshwarrao (22), a resident of Shantinagar.
According to police sources, the Anti Narcotics Cell of Nagpur Crime Branch received secret information about two persons smuggling MD into Nagpur city. Following this, the police laid a trap on Wardha Road and intercepted the accused duo driving an Activa. Upon checking the vehicle, they found 1.911 kilograms of MD in their possession.
The squad of the Anti Narcotics Cell, comprising Senior Police Inspector Manoj Sidam, APIs Rahul Dongre and Vikas Dande, PSI Balram Zadokar, Police Constables Pramod Dhote, Sunil Ingle, Samadhan Gite, NPC Sushil Gavai, Vivek Adhau, Manoj Neware, and others, made the arrest.
The operation was supervised under the guidance of Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner Aswati Dorje, and DCP (Detection) Mumakka Sudarshan.
