Nagpur: Hudkeshwar Police in Nagpur on Tuesday booked Gaurav Pancham Chauhan, the son of a policeman, for allegedly abetting his friend Tushar Sudhir Yeole to commit suicide.
A resident of New Prerna Nagar, Gaurav (24) is accused of driving his friend Tushar (24) to take his own life over a financial dispute. Tushar, who resided at Plot No 18, Vinayak Nagar, behind Besa Power House, near Mhalgi Nagar, consumed poison on the afternoon of August 21. As his condition worsened, he was admitted to KRIMS Hospital, where he breathed his last at around 6.25 pm on August 24.
Initially, police registered an accidental death case. However, a suicide note found during the investigation revealed that Tushar had lent Rs 11.70 lakh to accused Gaurav to help him start a cafe. Tushar’s father, Sudhir Namdeorao Ingle (52), had provided the money by selling a plot. Tushar had also financed electronic gadgets and other material in his name for the cafe. Gaurav later closed the cafe and relocated to Mumbai, leaving Tushar to face the financial burden alone.
As bank authorities began contacting Tushar for loan repayments, he sought Gaurav’s help in recovering the money. Gaurav allegedly refused to return the funds, which led Tushar to a state of deep depression, ultimately resulting in his decision to end his life.
Following the complaint filed by Tushar’s father, the police registered a case under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita against Gaurav. Further investigations are underway.
