Nagpur: In a swift action, Tehsil police traced an auto-rickshaw and recovered a diamond-studded gold necklace worth Rs 3 lakh a couple had forgotten in the auto on August 18.
The complainant Shantikumar Premchand Jain (62), native of Kolkata (WB), told Tehsil police that he, along with his wife, had boarded Duronto Express at Kolkata on August 17 for coming to Nagpur. The train reached Nagpur around 11.30 pm. After reaching Nagpur, the Jain couple hired an auto from Railway Station for going to the house of their relative named Ashok Kumar Jain, resident of Namakganj, near Prakash High School. The auto took them to the destination and left after dropping the Jain couple. Shortly thereafter, wife of Shantikumar came to know that she had forgotten her black-coloured purse containing a diamond-studded gold necklace worth Rs 3 lakh and a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phone worth Rs 20,000 in the auto. Subsequently, Shantikumar immediately approached Tehsil police and registered a case in this regard.
After receiving the complaint, a team of Tehsil cops led by Senior PI Vaibhav Jadhav, swung into action and traced the auto within 12 hours of the incident. The team recovered the diamond-studded gold necklace and the mobile phone from the auto driver. The valuables were handed over to a happy Shantikumar Jain.
The auto (MH-40/2052) driver has been identified as Nazmuddin Gyasuddin Kazi (42), resident of Mehboobpura, Yashodhanagar.
