Nagpur: A couple was killed, and six others, including five members of the same family, were injured when a speeding Scorpio four-wheeler, en route to a wedding, collided with a stationary car and overturned on Wardha Road in Butibori area near Nagpur on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Rajesh Murarilal Shrivastava (52) and Pooja Rajesh Shrivastava (45), both residents of Ram Nagar, Wardha. The injured persons include Rani Shrivastava (63), Aman Shrivastava (26), Sangeeta Shrivastava (48), Rakesh Shrivastava (52), all from Ram Nagar, Wardha, and driver Sarang Golhar (26) from Dhamangaon-Wathoda. The injured are currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Butibori.
The Shrivastava family had departed from Wardha in a car (MH-40/BE-3191) for a wedding ceremony in Nagpur. The Scorpio was travelling at a higher speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle in Butibori. It collided with the stationary car (MH-29/AK-6186) parked on the roadside and later hit the trolley of a tractor and overturned. The couple lost their lives, and six others, including the driver, sustained injuries.
The accident disrupted traffic on Wardha Road as a large number of onlookers gathered at the spot. Butibori Police team arrived at the scene and transported the injured to the hospital with the assistance of citizens. The police have registered a case under the provisions of Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicle Act.
