Couple steals Rs 35 lakh booty from builder’s house in Nagpur, booked

Nagpur: Mankapur Police booked a middle-aged man and his wife for allegedly stealing cash and gold ornaments collectively worth Rs 35 lakh from the house of a builder where they were residing for the past few years.

A resident of Flat No 401, Sai Kripa Residency, Aarti Town, Prakash Nagar, Sagar Dilip Karokar (38) told police that he regarded Shashikant Vishwanath Joshi (52) as his elder brother. Joshi and his wife Shivani (40) were staying at his house. On June 2, he went to attend his grandmother’s funeral.

Taking advantage of the situation, Joshi couple went to his bedroom and stole gold ornaments worth Rs 18 lakh and Rs 17 lakh cash.

Following Karokar’s complaint, police registered a case under Sections 406, 380 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code against the Joshi couple. Further investigations are underway.
