Nagpur: Nagpur Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure pro-hibiting transgenders visiting public places, houses, wedding ceremonies and other programmes uninvitedly across the Second Capital to extort money from citizens.
It is pertinent to mention that several complaints of harassment by transgenders, who often visit public places, traffic signals, residential premises, marriage venues and extort money, were received by the police.
In case of any violation of the order promulgated by the City Police Chief, action under Sections 188, 143,144,147,159,268,384,385, 403,504,506 of the Indian Penal Code, Sections 67,68,111,112 of the Maharashtra Police Act, and other relevant provisions of the law would be initiated against the eunuchs, the the order passed by the Top Cop.
The orders shall remain in force till April 17, 2023, it added.
