Nagpur: The General Manager of Central Railway Sunil Kumar Sood on Saturday inspected the under construction Subway at Mankapur and reviewed the progress. Similarly, Sood also inspected the newly laid chord line between Godhni and Kalamna Railway Stations. Laying of the chord line was an enormous task. The work has to be carried in such a way that traffic on the main line was not to be affected and was done by lifting the line well above two feet at a gap of 600 feet at both the stations. The single was to be converted into double line in the middle of the section. However, the work was done efficiently within the stipulated time and both the lines got operated for the railway traffic.
In the past many days, many goods trains were forced to run via Nagpur from Kalamna due to the single line. But now the task has been completed the goods trains are being run directly to Godhni from Kalamna. It saves time of 2-2.30 hours.
During the inspection, the DRM O P Singh and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
