Crackdown on nylon manja sale, 15 arrested in Nagpur

Nagpur: Police in Nagpur launched a crackdown against the sale of banned nylon manja and arrested 15 persons on Thursday. Cops seized 130 chakris of manja, two wheelers, cash and cell phones collectively worth Rs 3.13 lakh from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Ahmed Raza Khan Abdul Khan (19), a resident of Bengalipanja, Mohammad Aavez alias Assu Mohammad Shakeel Umar (19), a resident of Dahi Bazar, Jishaan Ali Asif Ali (20), a resident of Sanjivani Quarter, Yashodhara Nagar, Harsh Ravi Matelkar (19), a resident of Kanji House Chowk, Kamlakar alias Sonu Vijay Hedau (28), a resident of Vinoba Bhave Nagar, Rahul Malu Ramesh Pal (31), a resident of Prem Nagar, Shaikh Sameer Shaikh Shabir (24), a resident of Hiwri Nagar slums, Mehak Vijay Parate (25), Utkarsh Vijay Parate (20), both residents of Jagnath Budhwari, Abhishek Singh Gajendra Singh Solanki (21), a resident of Ayodhya Nagar, Tejas Shridhar Charde (20), a resident of Umrer Road, Kailash Safarmal Gochwani (45), a resident of Sindhi Colony, Khamla, Rishikesh Ramesh Adikane, a resident of Gosawi Basti, Nandanvan, Nishant Anil Waghmare (24), a resident of Adarsh Nagar, Pachpaoli, and Shreyanshu Nitin Khaperde (18), a resident of Panchasheel Nagar.

Separate cases under relevant sections of the IPC and Environment (Protection) Act were registered against all the accused at Tehsil, Yashodhara Nagar, Shanti Nagar, Kapil Nagar, Sakkardara, Rana Pratap Nagar and Sadar Police Stations. The special drive against the sale and use of nylon manja will continue by the police in the Second Capital.

Kalamna police seize nylon manja during raid

The Kalamna police team, led by Sub-Inspector Ratan Umbarkar, has seized banned nylon manja worth more than Rs 5,600 during a raid at Vijay Nagar on Thursday.

The police patrolling team received a tip-off regarding the nylon manja in the possession of one Bhuvaneshwar Sahu at his residence. The branded nylon manja of ‘Mono kite’ company was found during the action.

An offence was registered against Sahu at the Kalamna police station under various provisions of Environment Protection Act and also for the violation of the order under CrpC 144 issued by CP Amitesh Kumar against trading or buying of the nylon manja.
