By 17:38 hours on the same day, the division had achieved a remarkable Rs 5,036.60 crore, marking the highest-ever earnings in its history. Last year, the division’s goods earnings stood at Rs 4,595.16 crore, indicating a substantial growth trajectory. With approximately Rs 250 crore expected to be added to the earnings by the end of March 31, 2024, this achievement represents the highest-ever earnings in the history of the Nagpur Division.

The DRM said they hope to close the financial year with earnings of Rs 5,200 crore. This accomplishment represents a significant breakthrough for NagpurDivision, crossing the remarkable Rs 5,000 crore mark for the first time. The achievement underscores the division’s commitment to excellence and innovation, setting a new standard within the railway industry. The fiscal year target for goods was set at 54% of the entire Central Railway, a goal that Nagpur Division has not only achieved but surpassed with extraordinary success.

“This achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of the division’s Goods staff, whose relentless efforts have been instrumental in this remarkable accomplishment. Nagpur Division extends its gratitude to all employees for their unwavering commitment and tireless efforts, which have played a pivotal role in achieving this historic milestone. The division remains steadfast in its mission to deliver exceptional service and performance to its customers. As Nagpur Division celebrates this momentous achievement, it reaffirms its commitment to excellence and innovation in all aspects of its operations. The division looks forward to continuing its journey of success and contributing to the growth and prosperity of the region it serves. The division’s Goods Staff in Goods Sheds and Sidings have propelled Nagpur Division to unprecedented heights,” remarked the DRM Agrawal.

The DRM further said that in the next financial year 2024-25 the division expects to reach another new milestone, earning Rs 6,000 crore. While coal remains the mainstay of earnings of the division, the start of iron ore loading from Ballarshah station provided the much needed boost in earnings to Nagpur Division. The reason, ore classification ensures higher freight due to its weight and the long distance of travel meant higher lead and thus the twin factors would continue to play an important role in years to come in earnings of division.

In the total freight earnings, coal contributed 76%, iron ore (11%), clinker (2%), containers (4%), cement (3%), de-oiled cakes (1%), and other goods (3%). The other goods included cotton bales, sugar, automobiles, manganese, jaggery, food grains, iron slag, dolomite, iron and steel, and fly ash.

The contribution of other divisions include Mumbai (27%), Bhusawal (7%), Solapur (6%) and Pune (5%).
