Nagpur: A peculiar incident has come to light involving a Police Inspector in Nagpur, whose curious relationship with a subordinate has become a hot topic of discussion in police circles. Recently, this subordinate’s name appeared on the “defaulter transfer list.” As a result, senior officers had directed that he be relieved of his primary responsibilities. Consequently, he was assigned the role of ‘High Court Moharar’ (a court clerk). However, this employee has been actively seen at the police station instead of performing his duties at the High Court, sparking further intrigue.
This incident is unfolding at a police station located on Ring Road in South Nagpur. How a Police Inspector at this station ignored directives from senior officers has now come to light. One example of this insubordination has been linked to the ‘favouritism’ shown towards this constable. Despite his name being on the defaulter transfer list, he continues to enjoy the backing of the Police Inspector (PI).
There is growing curiosity about why this constable seems to be receiving special treatment from the station’s senior officer. It is suspected that a review of the CCTV footage from both the police station and the High Court could reveal the extent of this relationship. Previously, this constable was also in the spotlight for purchasing an expensive car worth lakhs, which had raised eyebrows. This issue is considered quite serious, and there is widespread chatter in police circles that the current inspector’s actions are misleading the Police Commissionerate.
According to a media report, a few days ago, the Police Commissionerate had issued transfer orders for defaulter employees, including this constable who worked as a Reader at the Ring Road police station. Following orders from higher-ups, this constable was relieved of his primary duties.
On the other hand, the ‘unusual relationship’ between the constable and the police inspector at the station has become a topic of discussion. It is said that for the past four to five years, this constable had been working as the High Court clerk under the Inspector’s supervision. However, despite being assigned new responsibilities as a ‘High Court Moharar,’ the constable continues to prefer staying at the police station.
Despite being formally assigned the role of High Court Moharar, experts claim that no such role exists within the police station. Typically, High Court-related duties are managed by staff from the Crime Branch, such as Assistant Police Inspectors (APIs) or constables, who liaise with the police station as required. It is speculated that the inspector deliberately appointed the constable as ‘High Court Moharar’ to ensure he remains at the station.
Although this constable is no longer officially serving as a Reader, his behaviour and attitude indicate that he still sees himself in the same role. His boldness and command over other staff members at the police station have not diminished, as he continues to issue orders without hesitation. The question of why the Police Inspector has such an attachment to this particular employee has become a matter of gossip among the other officers at the station.
