Nagpur: The Dawoodi Bohra community has strongly condemned some scenes in a series on ‘Netflix’ called ‘She – Season 2’ Episode 1.
In a press release, an NGO called ‘Being United,’ said that “It came to the notice of Dawoodi Bohra community that the series on Netflix called SHE – Season 2, Episode 1 in which a man called ‘Ismail’ who in the series as the owner of a prostitution cartel and is wearing our qaumi libas (dress) along with getting 3rd degree from the police. The scene hurts the sentiments and feelings of the community. Clothes of a particular tradition represent the entire community,” the press release said.
“A Netflix series using the traditional clothes to depict a character of certain nature which doesn’t represent any characteristics of the entire community and which is completely unnecessary and wrongful representation of a community. This is against the honour of our community which doesn’t involve such kind of people at any level and this scene should be deleted. Henceforth the traditional clothes should not be used to represent any such awful fictional characters in future, too,” the community demanded.
The press release further said, “This character in the series is shown only for few seconds, but represents a broker who deals in prostitution which at every level is defaming the honour of the clothes and headwear he is wearing we certainly raise out voice against such use of our traditional clothes. We condemn this act and ask Netflix to get this scene removed from the series SHE – Season 2, Episode 1 immediately,” the community stated.
