Dazzling look: 40 kg gold throne for Tekdi Ganesh with major facelift of temple

Nagpur: The world-famous Tekdi Ganesh Temple in Nagpur will soon have a magnificent look with major facelift. 95 percent of the work on the famous temple has been completed. Soon Ganpati Bappa will be installed on a 40 kg gold throne. A 21 kg silver kalas on the top of the sanctum sanctorum will be placed on the main kalas. 400 kg of silver will be used for the ceiling inside the temple. The work of a 200 kg silver ceiling has been completed, according to a report in a local Marathi daily.

Notably, the whole world came to a grinding halt during the Corona pandemic. Temples were also closed for a long time. Therefore, the construction of the Tekdi Ganesh Temple was delayed. The construction was started after relaxation in corona outbreak restriction. However, since the temple was closed, devotees could not come. The income of the temple was completely stopped.

As a result, it became difficult to pay the salaries of the priests and workers working in the temple. The Temple Management management sold 13 kg of gold for making the salaries and construction of the temple. From it, purchase of building materials, salaries of priests, stalled development work of the temple accelerated.

In the following year, a grand temple will be erected in a completely new ‘look’. The temple is being constructed from pink coloured sand stones. The pink coloured stones are being brought from Bharatpur in Rajasthan . Bricks are not used in this construction. That is why the new look of the temple is seen painted in pink.

According to the report, Rs 12 crore of funds have been spent so far. The entire fund has been spent from the temple treasury. About six to six and a half thousand square feet of stone is being used for the temple. Out of this, 80 percent of the work is done with pink and 20 percent of the work is done with red stones.

Soundproof meditation centre:
Preparations are also underway to make a meditation centre in front of the Ganesh idol in the temple. The centre will be completely enclosed by glass. Devotees can sit here and meditate without any noise or disturbance. A single staircase is being made to go to the balcony.

According to Shriram Kulkarni, Vice President, Shri Ganesh Tekdi Temple Trust, the temple has a false silver ceiling. 200 kg of silver has been used for it. There is still some work left and for that 200 kg of silver will be required. The main kalas work is still to be done. 21 kg of silver kalas will be placed on top of the temple. The complete temple has 21 kalas and 20 kalas are going to be fitted with brass metal kalas. The ‘make over’ of the Tekdi Ganesh Temple is being done. For this, work is being done on a war footing and 95 percent of the work has been completed. A 40 kg throne and 400 kg silver ceiling will be prepared for Bappa, he added.
