Demolition work of bridge at Ambazari Lake overflow point sans prior notice

Nagpur: With citizens’ convenience taken for granted by authorities in Nagpur, the pending work on demolition of low height bridge at Ambazari overflow point was started from Wednesday without any prior notice.

The commuters on the road from Ambazari T-Point to Subhash Nagar T-Point were left confused as the stretch was closed from morning leaving citizens to take a detour. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Nagpur City Police, notified closure of road stretch on Wednesday itself for a period of one month as Public Works Department (PWD) is undertaking construction of replacement bridge as part of permanent measures to remove obstruction for free flow of overflowing water from Ambazari lake.

While the work on construction of a new bridge is no doubt important, what about norms, wherein the Traffic Control Branch issues notification about closure of roads so that citizens are well informed. But it seems when it comes to the Government agencies, rules don’t matter or they are exempt from it. But these same agencies would not leave any stone unturned in hauling up a layman in case there is some lapse or some rule is deviated.
