Depressed cop hangs self

A police head constable, Ravindra Thakre, committed suicide by hanging himself at his Raghuji Nagar police quarter residence on Thursday afternoon.

Police sources informed he resorted to the extreme step as he was depressed over some work pressure as well as financial issues. Thakre was attached to Sakkardara police station.

Around 2 pm, Thakre’s wife, Savita, a homemaker, had gone to meet a relative while his children were at their school when Thakre ended his life. He leaves behind 12-year-old Aanchal and 10-year-old Prajwal.

Thakre was first found hanged by Prajwal after he returned home at 4pm. A fourth standard student screamed and was shocked to find his father hanging to the ceiling hook in the kitchen.

On being informed by neighbours, Hudkeshwar police reached the spot and the body was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital. An accidental death has been registered.

Cops said that no suicide note was found. Thakre had met with an accident around fortnight before. Since then, he was on leave. It was learnt that he was depressed over some financial reasons.
