Nagpur: The incidence of hit-and-run accidents is on the rise in the state’s sub-capital. A recent incident occurred on a flyover where a couple of doctors en route to a relative’s funeral were seriously injured after being struck by an uncontrolled SUV. The collision resulted in significant damage to the couple’s vehicle, and they have since been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
The injured individuals have been identified as Dr. Virendra Kale (47) and his wife, Lata Kale (47), residents of Umred Road. The Kales run a hospital on Umred Road, and their relatives reside in Katol. On September 25, at approximately 5:15 AM, the couple was driving to Katol for the funeral when the incident occurred. Dr. Virendra Kale was at the wheel, exiting the Constitution Square onto the flyover when an SUV, registered under the number MH 31 FE 7864, collided with their car near the Old Katol Naka intersection. Reports suggest that the SUV was being driven by three or four young men at a speed exceeding 120 km/h.
The local police have filed a case against the driver responsible for the incident and have initiated further investigations.
