Nagpur: On the occasion of 357th Prakash Parv (Birth Anniversary celebrations) of Tenth Guru Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, Dada Madhavdas Mamtani explained that just as IPC, CrPC and CPC are the laws for resolving disputes, and court protects the plaintiff/defendant who follows the laws, our Shastras like Ramayana, Mahabharata, Nanak Prakash define the code of conduct for day to day life. Just like infringement of law is punishable; similarly a person disobeying the rules of Shastras is also punished with grief.

Dada Madhavdas Mamtani further explained that neither Shri Dashrath F/o Shri Ram, nor Shri Vasudev F/o Shri Krishna, nor Shri Kalurai F/o Shri Guru Nanak Devji demanded dowry, though the bride’s family was very rich and capable of meeting their demands. Therefore, we should also follow the same procedure at the time of marriage and refrain from demanding dowry even if the bride’s family is rich and capable. Dada Mamtani therefore advised the society to accept the dowry that is given willingly and not to make any additional demand thereof, which is an outcome of greed. It is often seen that people demand dowry unaware of the fact that this is punishable with grief to the demanding party and their abaters.
Explaining the types of grief, Adv Madhavdas Mamtani told that demand of dowry is because of greed. He who demands dowry will have to weep, as stated by Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Saheb in Salok Mahalla 9 on Ang 1428 of Shri Guru Granth Saheb “Karno Huto Su Naa Kio Pario Lobh Ke Phandh, Nanak Samiyo Rami Gaio Ab Kiyu Rovat Andh”. Various meanings have been attributed to this Salok and one of them is that everyone has to do Satvyavhar (accept the voluntary given dowry). One becomes grieved as a punishment for his greed; and ultimately, he has to weep. This will also apply to the abaters of dowry demand because abetment of an offence is also an offence. Adv Mamtani further informe that Shri Kalgidhar Satsang Mandal has resolved ‘Not to Demand Dowery’ and many of our devotees are following these resolutions. Therefore, Adv. Mamtani appealed to all sections of society to refrain from demanding dowry.
Today, nearly 25 thousand devotees participated in the programme. Various prominent personalities viz. MLA Dr. Nitin Raut, Suresh Jagyasi, Dr. Richa Jainand and Rajkumar Jain, RSS’s Rajesh Loya, Anil Bhardwaj, Rajwantsingh Paul Tuli, Gagvinder Paul Vij, Deepen Agrawal, Anil Nagrade, Gowardhan Kodwani, Ashok Ahuja, Purushottam Ranglani were present. Adv. Mamtani has appealed to people to participate in the ongoing programme in large numbers and pray to the Almighty for the desired benefits.
