Double lifer for four in Nagpur murder case

Nagpur: Additional Sessions Judge N H Jadhav in Nagpur on Monday sentenced four individuals to double life imprisonment for their involvement in the brutal murder of Amin Sayyed Ali in Jai Hind Nagar, Mankapur.

The convicts include the victim’s brother, Asif Ali Sayyed Ali, alongside Javid Khan Habib Khan, Ramiz Khan Hafiz Khan, and Sadique Khan Abid Khan. The convict, Asif Ali, is the brother of the deceased, who conspired with three others to eliminate Amin Sayyed Ali following a dispute over share in the property.

According to the prosecution, Amin Sayyed Ali (41) and his brother Asif Ali Sayyed (40) were residing separately with their families at the same house at Plot No 75, Jai Hind Nagar, near old Kunal Hospital, Mankapur, Nagpur. A dispute arose between Amin Ali and his brother Asif Ali over the share in their common property. Some complaints were also lodged with the police earlier. Amin Ali had given a shop on the ground floor to Ali Amir Shabbir Anees (41) on rent.

On August 1, 2020, Asif Ali and his family had gone to Morshi, district Amravati, to his in-laws’ house. Around 7.30 pm on August 10, 2020, the tenant Ali Amir told Amin Ali’s wife Aliya (34) that he received a phone call from Asif Ali that he was coming to Nagpur around 8 pm and would kill her and her husband. Asif Ali, along with his brothers-in-law Javid Habib Khan (35), Tamij Hafeez Khan (25) and Sadique Abid Khan (26), all residents of Ward No 6, Shams Colony, tehsil Morshi, district Amravati, came in a Hyundai Santro car (MH31/BB-8185) around 9.30 pm. They got down from the car on the road and attacked Amin Ali with metallic pipes and a knife injuring him seriously. They then fled the spot. A profusely bleeding Amin Ali was rushed to Mayo Hospital where the doctors declared him ‘brought dead.’

On the complaint of Aliya, wife of the deceased, Mankapur Police arrested Asif Sayyed Ali, Javid Khan, Ramiz Khan and Sadique Khan on charges under Sections 302, 34, 120-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), read with Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, on August 12, 2020. PSI Yuwraj Pran Sahare investigated the case.

After collecting concrete evidence, including the footage of the CCTV, and clothes worn by the accused-quartet while committing the crime, PSI Sahare filed a chargesheet against the accused quartet in the court. During the trials, the court examined as many as 34 witnesses. As the charges were substantiated against Asif Sayyed Ali, Javid Khan,Ramiz Khan and Sadique Khan, the court sentenced them to suffer imprisonment for life and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 for the offence under Sections 302 (Murder)and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC.

Similarly, the court awarded life imprisonment to them for the offence under Section 120-B (Criminal conspiracy) of the IPC with a fine of Rs 50,000. Both the sentences will run concurrently.
