Nagpur News: The noted Economist and Member of Central Planning Commission Dr Narendra Jadhav surprised the other senior and famous economists by saying that they didn’t know Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar was an economist, too. At the same time Dr Jadhav lamented no mention of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s name in the “History of Indian Economy.” The Planning Commission Member Dr Jadhav said, “Dr Ambedkar was not only an expert in the economy but he was also a student of Economy. Most importantly, Dr Ambedkar was conferred with PhD and Doctor of Science designation,” Dr Jadhav said.

Dr Narendra Jadhav was speaking at the “Golden Jubilee Celebration Lecture Series” organized to mark the Golden Jubilee of Dr Babasahed Ambedkar College in Nagpur. The topic of the Lecture Series was “Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s economy thoughts and philosophy.”
Dr Jadhav further elaborated, “Dr Ambedkar has written three books on Economy. The first book is: Problem of Rupees, its Origin and Solution, the second is, Administration and Finance of East India Company and the third book is: Evolution of Finance in British India. The Evolution of Finance in British India in British Raj was his research volume. Importantly, the report of the 13th Finance Commission was based on Dr Ambedkar’s research volume. The volume contained British Raj’s economic relations between Central and States. Similarly, the attention was drawn towards the shortcomings, and facts and fugures were also provided by the volume,” Dr Jadhav asserted.
