Nagpur: The newly appointed Commissioner of Police Dr K Venkyatesham reached Nagpur from Mumbai on Friday afternoon and first went to Civil Lines-based Police Commissionerate. He was welcomed there by the outgoing Commissioner Sharda Prasad Yadav.
Joint Police Commissioner Santosh Rastogi and other high ranking officials were present on the occasion. Later, Dr Venkyatesham took charge of his new assignment from S P Yadav.
The new top cop of city held discussions with police officials over a slew of important issues and later reached Police Gymkhana. Here also Dr Venkyatesham discussed the police issues with senior officials. The new Commissioner of Police is likely to meet media in the evening.
Notably, Dr K Venkyatesham, a 1988 IPC Batch officer, was appointed Commissioner of Police in place of Sharda Prasad Yadav who is taking charge as Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) in Mumbai. Earlier, Dr Venkyatesham was holding the post of Additional Director General of Police (Training and Special Units).
