Dr Mohan is new CSIR-NEERI Director

Nagpur: Dr S Venkata Mohan has taken over the charge of Director of the CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI) in Nagpur on Thursday. Before this appointment, Dr Mohan was a Chief Scientist at the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) in Hyderabad.

He has been associated with CSIR-IICT since 1998 and has made significant contributions to the fields of environmental engineering and sustainability. Dr Mohan holds a BTech in Civil Engineering and MTech and PhD in Environmental Engineering. He has also served as a visiting professor at Kyoto University, Japan and as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the Technical University of Munich, Germany.

Dr Mohan has authored over 450 research papers, 64 book chapters and five books. He holds 16 patents and has received more than 36,000 citations, with an h-index of 103. He has supervised 42 PhD scholars and his contributions have been recognised through prestigious honours and awards such as the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize, the INAE-SERB Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship and the Tata Innovation Fellowship.

Dr Mohan is an elected Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy, the National Academy of Sciences India, and several other esteemed academies. Notably, he has been ranked among the world’s top two per cent of researchers by Stanford University.
