Driganchu Theatre comes with its next production ‘Shotti bhooter golpo’
Nagpur Today: Music, Politics and Theatre has been an integral part of Bengali culture. However over a period of time, theatre saw a decline after many other popular media of entertainment like TV, DVD etc took over.
In the past few years, thanks to some passionate stage artists, theatre has been revived.
Driganchu Theatre too has been coming up with some very interesting plays which were staged at various places. While it regales the Bengali populace, others too get to see the intense acting skills of the artists.
One of the latest production of Driganchu Theatre titled ‘Shotti bhooter golpo’ is definitely a hilarious play with tickling imagination writen by Manoj Mitra and Directed by Raja Mukherjee.
The play ‘Shotti bhooter golpo’ is where God (enacted by Raja Mukherjee) along with Chitragupta is worried about the ghosts who have kidnapped Yamraj’s younger wife which is his 12th wife.
The reason behind kidnapping is a mystery which involves various characters such as Bijlirani, Ghatotkach, Dhandhaniya, Police Constable Mama, Neta, Dadibaba, and many others.
Every character tries to bribe the God in different ways so that they can take favourable rebirths. It’s only when a petit poor farmer Kadamdas comes into picture, does the audience get to observe the twist to the plot. The ghosts from corrupted Shrude along with cunning selfish people are transformed into cows. The play gives out a practical and true message to the audience and leaves the audience bursting out loud with its act, dialogues and funny liners.
The audience which had gathered in good numbers to see the play had hilarious moments. The play and artists got appreciated by one and all.
