Driver dead, 2 injured as car hits divider in a bid to save dog on Wardha road

Nagpur: A car zoomed off road while trying to save a stray dog from being hit and accidentally overturned after hitting the divider, killing the driver on the spot and injuring two others. The incident took place on Wardha road in the wee hours of Monday.

Shridatt Sajay Warade resident of 598, Zenda Chowk, Mahal died on the spot, while Kartik Sajay Warade (19), Gopi Sanjay Rajhans and Prathamesh Rebe sustained severe injuries. Both were rushed to the hospital where their condition was reportedly stable.

It is learnt that all the friends were returning from a dhaba on Wardha road in a Maruti Suzuki SX4 (MH/31/DC/6111) driven by Shridatt in the wee hours of Monday. However when they reached Shivangaon fata in under the jurisdiction of Sonegoan police station, a street dog came in the middle of a road. While trying to save that dog Shridatt lost control and rammed his car into a divider, turning the vehicle turtle.

The impact was so grievous that Shridatt died on the spot before any medical help could reach to him while his friends were rushed to nearby private hospital in critical condition.
