Nagpur: The Anti-Narcotics Cell of the Nagpur Crime Branch arrested a drug peddler late Wednesday night and seized 713 grams of Ganja worth Rs 14,260 from the Telipura area, Burad Galli.
The accused, identified as 21-year-old Nayan Santosh Meshram, originally from Yavatmal and currently residing in Sitabuldi, was caught red-handed while selling the illegal substance on the street.
Upon interrogation, Nayan disclosed the involvement of another suspect, Sheikh Shakil Sheikh Salim (39), a resident of Burad Galli, who is now absconding. An offence has been registered against both individuals under Sections 8(C), 20(B), and 29 of the NDPS Act.
Nayan has handed over to Sitabuldi police for further investigation, while the police have launched a manhunt for Shakil. The arrest was led by PI Gajanan Gulhane, with support from API Manoj Ghurde and Constables Manoj Neware, Shailesh Dobole, Sheshrao Revatkar, Vivek Adhao, Rohit Kale, and Anup Yadav.
The Anti-Narcotics Cell is intensifying its efforts to combat the growing drug menace in the city.
