Drug Seizure in Pachpaoli, Over 128 kgs of ‘Poppy Straw’ Recovered

Nagpur: In a recent crackdown on drug trafficking, Pachpaoli Police seized over 128 kilograms of Poppy Straw (locally known as Doda Chura) worth Rs. 10.24 lakh on Friday night.

The seizure marks a significant development as Poppy Straw, often disguised as cattle feed, has now emerged alongside MD drugs in recent police operations.

The arrest of Laxminarayan Maikulaal Jaiswal, 38, from Flat No. 54, Kamal Chowk, followed the raid at his shop where the illicit substance, the residue from opium pods, was found stored.

Acting on confidential information, Pachpaoli Police raided the location near Kamal Chowk, uncovering eight sacks of Poppy Straw during the operation.

The accused faces charges under Sections 8(C), 15(C), 17, and 22 of the NDPS Act. The successful operation was conducted under the supervision of DCP Zone 3 Gorakh Bhamre, ACP Lakadganj Zone, Senior Police Inspector Baburao Raut, and involved officers including API Praveen Somvanshi, Pankaj Bhople, PSI Majgaonkar, Police Constable Dyaneshwar Bhonge, Naik Police Amaldar Imran Sheikh, Romesh Menewar, Rahul Chikte, Gangan Yadav, Santosh Shendre, Police Amaldar Mahendra Selokar, Nilesh Pawar, and Neeta Tamgadke.
