NagpurNews: An auto driver and a woman passenger were seriously injured in a ghastly collision between a milk tanker and a six-seater auto rickshaw near Poonam Chamber on Koradi road in Sadar police station area on Wednesday evening.
Auto driver, Mannu Chauhan (23) and Parveen Qureshi, both residents of Mankapur, are battling for their lives at Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH).
Police said that the tanker driver, Prakash Arikne, a resident of Hingna, was in inebriated condition and has been arrested.
Chauhan was heading from Sadar to Mankapur while Arikne was coming from Mankapur to Butibori. Cops informed that Arikne, who was drunk, was driving rashly and in criss-cross manner and collided with the auto rickshaw. Eye-witnesses informed that the tanker driver would have hit many other vehicles. The collision led to tension for hours at the spot. Arikne was nabbed by passers-by and handed over to Sadar police.
