Nagpur: A drunkard man enacted a kidnapping drama of his 7-year-old son but the Beltarodi police exposed him with the help of CCTV footage. It actually happened that the accused man sent his son away with his girlfriend. However, after many hours, she did not bring the child. The father filed a complaint alleging kidnapping. However, the police conducted a thorough investigation and exposed all the details through the CCTV footage and brought this forgery of the father to the fore, according to a report in local Sakal daily.
The accused, Akash Waghode, a construction labourer who lives in Beltarodi police station limits, is a drunkard. His wife went to her parent’s home with her 7-year-old son due to frequent arguments in the house over drinking. Since then Akash has been drinking more alcohol. Meanwhile, he came closer with a 35-year-old woman who was also a labourer on his own construction site. She used to come to the house of Akash who was living alone as his wife left him. She is also addicted to alcohol. Both always drank alcohol and lived in the same house.
On Tuesday, Akash had brought his 7-year-old son home. That night his girlfriend also came home. Both enjoyed liquor during the night. In the morning she woke up and left for Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh with the 7-year old boy as told by her friend Akash. As she did not return, the boy’s father filed a missing complaint two days later, and, after a 40-hour search, the cops found the boy at Shatabdi Chowk in Nagpur with the woman, who was trying to find her way back to the boy’s house.
Meanwhile, another media report said that the woman, Reshma Bhiwgade, was booked for kidnapping. Bhiwgade had left with 7-year-old Manthan Waghode on Saturday from Niranjan Nagar, after a one-night stand with his father Akash. Reports said Akash was staying with his son Manthan at a construction site while his wife stayed elsewhere with two other younger sons due to a tiff with Akash.
After a one-night stand, Bhiwgade left Akash’s makeshift room on Saturday with her own son and also Akash’s son Manthan. Akash let her take his son too, presuming she would return soon.
Police sources said Bhiwgade completed some work she had, along with her son and Manthan. Then, she was unable to recall the way back to Akash’s hut at the construction site at Niranjan Nagar. Police said Bhiwgade and Akash did not own mobile phones, and hence could not communicate with each other. So, Bhiwgade took Manthan to her native place at Chhindwara.
In the meantime, Manthan’s mother came to meet Akash on Monday, and was stunned to find that her son was missing for the last two days. She dragged Akash to Beltarodi police station, where an offence of kidnapping was registered. Five teams were formed by Zonal DCP Vijaykant Sagar to search for Bhiwgade and the boy.
Reports said Bhiwgade too had tried to approach the cops, but could not reach a police station. On Tuesday, she had returned to Nagpur by train and gone to Shatabdi Chowk by an autorickshaw. The cops, who were searching for Bhiwgade, spotted Manthan playing on a sand heap on the roadside. Bhiwgade too was in the vicinity. The cops immediately rounded up Bhiwgade and reunited Manthan with his parents.
