Nagpur: A drunkard man killed his 10-year-old son for not storing water at home. The shocking incident took place at Suradevi village under Koradi Police Station area on Sunday night.
The police have arrested Santlal Madavi (42) for killing his son Gulshan alias Gabru (10).
According to police, the accused Santlal was working with a private company and used to consume liquor everyday. Gabru was studying in Standard V. Santlal was living in a hut with son Gabru and daughter Asha (12) while his wife was living separately.
Investigation revealed that Santlal used to beat Gabru on every small issue. On Sunday, he asked Gabru to fill up water at home from a tap. However, Gabru forgot to do so. Santlal returned home in the evening. He got angry when he learnt that Gabru had not filled up water. He mercilessly bashed the boy and strangled him to death with a belt. Soon after, Santlal went to market with daughter where he met a female relative. The woman came to Santlal’s home on his request. Santlal enacted drama near home that he was not finding Gabru anywhere in the vicinity and asked Asha to open the door. The girl was shocked after seeing Gabru lying unconscious on the floor. She sprinkled water on his face but he was not responding. Neighbours gathered at the home and informed the police.
Koradi Police rushed to the spot and took Gabru to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. An autopsy was performed on Gabru. As per the primary post-mortem report, the doctors suggested strangulation as the reason behind the death of Gabru. Acting on the report, the police took Santlal into custody and quizzed him. He finally confessed to committing the murder.
An offence under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code was registered by Koradi police. Further probe is underway.
