Drunkard man meets watery grave in swollen nullah in Nagpur

Nagpur: A young drunkard man drowned in a flooded nullah near Sai Nagar Bridge in Mankapur area in Nagpur city late Tuesday night. The body of Yogesh Punjaram Raut (33) was fished out by local residents with the assistance of the staff of Fire & Emergency Department of Nagpur Municipal Corporation after it was found floating upside down in the swollen nullah near the bridge.

The deceased was a resident of Awasthi Nagar. Staff from Mankapur Police Station led by Senior Inspector Vaijayanti Mandavdhare visited the spot. After the deceased’s brother identified the body, cops sent it to Mayo Hospital for post-mortem.

Prima facie, police said, Yogesh Raut was allegedly an alcoholic. He fell into the nullah allegedly in an inebriated condition and drowned. After recording the statement of the deceased’s brother, Mankapur Police registered an accidental death case.
