Nagpur: A high-level meeting was conducted between the officials of VED, MIDC and Engineers India Ltd (EIL) regarding the techno-economic feasibility study for the proposed petrochemical complex to be set up in Butibori, on Wednesday. The meeting was held at MIDC office, Udyog Bhavan, Civil Lines.
In the meeting, it was informed that the MIDC has around 1,500-2,000 acres of land available at the additional Butibori estate for setting up the proposed petrochemical complex in Nagpur. On a follow-up from VED, which has been pursuing the setting up of this complex in Vidarbha for several years, the MIDC has placed a work-order to EIL to conduct a techno-economic feasibility study at Butibori for the mega project. The MIDC also briefed EIL on the project’s objectives and conceptualization.
The EIL presented the project basis to VED and MIDC for the feasibility report for the detailed analysis. It also informed about the land cost and location for the storage terminal while intermediate pumping stations would be excluded from the project cost. The MIDC asked EIL to estimate the water pipeline cost which would be excluded from the overall project cost.
EIL informed that for the captive power generation, a 100 % coal-based plant be considered with additional coal facilities. In case the land required falls short, the same will be communicated to MIDC.
MIDC informed that only 25 MLD water can be sourced from Rama Dam, and in case of higher requirements then treated one can be sourced from Gosikhurd Dam (100km). It added that RITES has already performed a railway siding study and should be used by other parties as well as for product evacuation. For the base case, availability of gas may be considered for additional fuel if required as the GAIL pipeline is being planned. It confirmed to exclude township from the project cost.
EIL said a site visit should be planned at Nagpur in the first week of June for firming up plot area requirements. At the same time, a visit to the JNPT port and Mumbai for MSRDC (Samruddhi Mahamarg) will also be organized by MIDC.
