Elderly man killed in road accident near Pardi

Nagpur News.

An elderly man, riding his bicycle, was badly hit by a rashly driven truck on Tuesday evening. The cyclist was declared dead during treatment.

According to Kalamna police, under whose jurisdiction the accident took place, the deceased was Krishnarao Daulatrao Thombre (75), a resident of Sanjay Nagar, Ambazari. On Tuesday at around 4 pm, the elderly man was going on his bicycle from Bhandara Road, Pardi, in front of Indian Gas godown when a rashly driven truck (MH 36 F 615) hit him. Krishnarao fell on the ground after which the truck ran over on his legs, thus injuring him critically. Fearing public wrath, the truck driver sped away from the spot.

Onlooker rushed for help and took krishnarao to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (Mayo Hospital) for treatment. During preliminary treatment, doctors declared him dead. Kalamna police reached the scene after being informed.

On the complaint of Madhukar Bhoyar, a resident of Sonegaon, Kalamna police registered a case against the truck driver under Sections 279, 304 (a) read with sub Sections 134 and 177 of the Motor Vehicle Act. Cops have launched a search for the truck driver.
