Nagpur: Raman Science Centre in Nagpur received a threatening email on January 5 with a threat claiming presence of explosives throughout the facility. The message warned of an explosion and claimed responsibility under the name ‘Terrorizers111’. Ganeshpeth Police have registered a case against unidentified persons and have launched an investigation.
According to police, upon receiving the threatening email, Raman Science Centre officials alerted the Ganeshpeth Police. A Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) was deployed to conduct a thorough search of the entire centre. No explosive devices were found during the search. Despite the absence of physical threats, the administration had opted for precautionary measures by intensifying the security at Raman Science Centre.
A round-the-clock police fix point has been also established to monitor the premises and ensure the safety of visitors and staff. The threatening email, sent from e-mail id — xenoxeno0111@gmail.com to Raman Science’s email ID, — contained explicit details about planted explosives and a warning of explosion in the morning hours. The message read “there are multiple explosives inside of your museum. The explosives are well hidden and they will go off in the morning. I will make sure that everyone inside is going to die. WE ARE A GROUP CALLED Terrorizers111 GIVE YOUR NAME TO THE MEDIA, OR WE WON’T STOP CAUSING TERROR.”
The sender, identifying himself as “Terrorizers111,” is now the subject of an intense search operation led by Ganeshpeth police in collaboration with Cyber Police Station. The case has been officially registered under various sections of Indian Penal Code.
The Raman Science Centre, named after Nobel Laureate physicist Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, is affiliated to the Nehru Science Centre in Mumbai, which along with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum, Byculla Zoo and several other important sites in Mumbai received such bomb threat emails on Friday.
