Nagpur: Based on the directives of the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court, the Squad of Anti-Encroachment Branch of Nagpur Municipal Corporation undertook the demolition drive for removal of encroachments constructed by various hospitals in Dhantoli area on October 9, 2015.
The Encroachment Removal Drive, which began on October 9, 2015 started with razing some of the encroachments made by Suretech Hospital in Dhantoli area.
The illegal parking made on the North side of the Suretech Hospital was razed to ground. The personnel of the Anti-Encroachment wing then went to the basement and found that the Suretech Hospital had constructed a Kitchen and three Chambers for doctors in the basement violating the sanctioned plan submitted by the hospital.
Taking the orders pronounced during the hearing before Justice Bhushan Gavai and Justice Prasanna Varale, seriously, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation intends to constitute three more demolishing squads. With the two existing squads and the three newly constituted squads, (total 5 squads) they will go out on a full-fledged demolishing drive from Tuesday the October 13, 2015.
33 buildings are said to be the target for their illegal constructions and encroachments which they have constructed in allotted parking space or changed user from residential/commercial to hospital/nursing. The owners of these buildings had been given notice under Maharashtra Town Planning Act 53. Since none of the owners of these 33 hospitals have demolished the illegal constructions on their own, based on the court’s directives NMC will be demolishing all illegal structures and encroachments.
