Nagpur: The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Nagpur Police has booked three officials of Jaya Fuels Petroleum from Kerala for duping a city-based man to the tune of Rs 1,81,94,000 under the pretext of investing in their firm in exchange for hefty returns.
Based on the complaint lodged by Lalit Kumar, a resident of Telankhedi, the EOW has booked the accused identified as Vijayan Pillai, Vijayakumar Pillai, and Nazim Hanifa under Sections 420, 406, and 34 of the IPC.
According to police sources, between 2012 and 2024, the accused persons had lured the victim under the pretext of a 30% yearly profit on the investment at Jaya Fuels Petroleum. However, when it came to returning the investment, the accused gave two cheques of Rs 1.81 Crore to the victim. But when Lalit deposited the cheques in the bank, they bounced.
Following this, Lalit approached the EOW with a police complaint.
Cops have registered a case and are investigating further.
