Nagpur: Justice Sharad Bobde, former Chief Justice of India (CJI); Adv Harish Salve, legal luminary; and Leelatai Chitaley, freedom fighter and social worker, were honoured with the coveted Nag Bhushan Award ceremoniously today on November 18 at Summit Hall, Hotel Radisson Blu, Wardha Road.
Though the Dy CM Devendra Fadnavis was slated to be chief guest but he was called to Gujarat for campaigning at the last minute so bailed out
” Constitution of India and Gandhian philosophy in danger in today’s India” cautioned Leelatai Chitale, one of the awardees of the Nag Bhushan award .
Awards were handed over by justice ( retired) Shirpurkar.
Ex M.P. Ajay Sancheti presided over the function.
The coveted Nag Bhushan Award was instituted by Nag Bhushan Foundation, which was founded on the eve of the tercentenary year of Nagpur city in the year 2002. Since then, the Foundation has been honouring renowned personalities who have brought laurels of National and International repute to the region. The Nag Bhushan Award comprises Rs 1 Lakh cash and citation.
